A Building Code is the set of construction standards established by a recognized agency describing design loads, procedures and construction details for structures usually applying to a designated city, county or state. These standards are required by the local building/construction regulations. Meeting these standards is required to obtain a building permit.
The Industry standard Code for Metal Building Design is MBMA (Metal Building Manufacturers Association), and this standard is accepted by many state and city officials. However, determining the required local jobsite standard is the responsibility of the End User or Builder. Additional Information can be obtained from your Building Code Manual.
Building Code and edition requirements should be obtained from the local building code official.
